Keeping my hair healthy with wash n go's

Lately I've been doing wash n go's and I really like them so far. I can't believe I haven't done them before!! I thought my hair wouldn't look curly enough so I always did braid outs. I tried twist outs before but my roots would always be puffy so I decided there not for me. I may try them again in the future though. Curling Custard Eco Styling Gel Back to my wash n go's I used kinky curly knot today curling custard for my first and second wash n go and the second one lasted two weeks. I was very pleased with the results because my hair didn't shrink as much as it usually does. One thing I don't like is that my looks a little stringy in the front but that may be because of the way I put it in. For my third wash n go I used olive oil eco styler gel and my curls were poppin seriously. I didn't like my second day hair because it had shrunk so much but that may be because I didn't do the pineapple method that I did with the curling cus...

Benefits of Protective styling

Since being natural for 5 years going on 6 I have grown my hair to bra strap length. Now I'm at arm pit length due to me slacking on my routine during pregnancy. I love to style my hair in many different styles and experiment with hair color. I would be at waist length if I had kept up with protective styling like I did when I first started my journey. I love how diverse my hair is and it tempts me to play in my hair all the time. I used to roller set my hair weekly as a protective style when I was transitioning. Roller setting my hair helped tremendously with me retaining length, but as my hair grew longer I did not like roller sets in my hair. My next got to style was buns, I loved my buns and I became a pro at making my bun flawless. After so long of wearing a bun you have to consider your edges and my edges were definitely taking a hit so I had to improvise. I went back to the basics and start to wear my hair in single braids. Not small braids just simple plot braids aka Celi...

My Hair...

My hair...where do I start!! So for the past couple of months I have been slacking with my hair care. I haven't been moisturizing and sealing my how I should. My hair has gotten so long and thick that it is a real task to do my hair. I really want to get back on track starting next week. I have a hair appointment with my stylist on Tuesday for a silk press. The last time I went to her I got a silk press, protein treatment and my ends clipped. I guess I did start slacking at a time when my hair was really healthy, that was on May 1st 2013. Wow its really been 3 months. I have a picture below of her clipping my hair and you can see the length.  I plan to wear my hair in a wrap for 4 weeks then get my hair re washed and flat ironed for my anniversary on Sept. 4th. Its crazy because even though she put heat to my hair it still curls up pretty tight. Where I have the color in my hair the curl is a little looser but that is ok with me as long as my hair is not permanently straight. ...
